This feature is still not felt any users, we also account existing features such notification. There are only a notification email for every new followers and direct messages, because already some users feel the offending feature and feel we provide an explanation here.
We feel these features will be useful for users who rarely access Twitter account, However will disturb create a user who already has a Twitter application on his BlackBerry or Smartphones that already have push notifications on his Device.

Turn off Email Notifications
If you feel disturbing, you should be able to turn off the settings on your Twitter account.
1. Log in to your Twitter account via a desktop
2. Click settings
3. Click notifications
4. Check the option type of notification that you wish to receive and uncheck that you do not wish to receive
