Lenovo Could Buy RIM to Boost Mobile Business 0

DAVOS, Switzerland — Lenovo Group Ltd. is assessing potential acquisition targets and strategic alliances, including a deal with BlackBerry maker Research In Motion Ltd., as the second-largest producer of personal computers tries to bolster its mobile-device business.

Lenovo Could Buy RIM to Boost Mobile Business

New information has come to from Lenovo look to acquisitions and strategic alliances to improve their mobile business, and Research in Motion is one of their choice. As one of the largest PC manufacturer, Lenovo now wanted in the mobile market and to do so they have to buy or get a new partner.

CFO Wong Wai Ming told Bloomberg it is looking at “We are looking at all opportunities -- RIM and many others,” in an effort to grow its mobile business and that it will have "no hesitation if the right opportunity comes along that could benefit us and shareholders.”

Lenovo said RIM's stock has gone up this year, all because of the BlackBerry OS 10 to be announced this January 30. Although Lenovo has confirmed they are looking into RIM, the BlackBerry maker has refused to comment on the issue.
